How it all began…

We are working to develop a “A country cottage” style creative drop in centre for crafters of all abilities, ages, background and culture where they can come and craft while they socialise-practice-teach-learn.

Our aim is to create a friendly open & creative environment,”A crafting home from home” (comment from one of our fans), where local crafters & families can practice, learn, teach and sell their crafts. A place where skills can be shared and new ideas encouraging community engagement, increasing social well-being, removing isolation and possibly mentoring transitions into employment.

In order to help us achieve our aim we have created a drop in centre. The creative drop in centre has a charge of £3.00 (loyalty scheme available) per visit (the only time restriction is our opening times). In addition to the drop in we also run regular dedicated craft sessions for crochet, knitting and sewing alongside our extensive curriculum of workshops.

Let’s all get creative, “make do and mend”, to pass on skills to the next generation.

This blog is a space for more long form updates of what’s going on with us, descriptions of workshops, anecdotes and ideas that might not quite fit on FacebookTwitter, or Pinterest.

6 years ago Faye was unemployed due to long term illness & was unsuccessful in getting work.

“I had a dream forming in my mind while spending endless hours creating crochet goodies. The dream was for a full time crafting studio that I could share with the local community. A comfortable space, light and airy with easy access. I then met Xtina Lamb of Medway Fine Printmakers. She had just moved into INTRA which happened to have the perfect space for me to fulfill the dream. In less than 3 months from idea conception we opened our public drop in studio on 18 March 2014.

In addition to the wonderful drop in facility we also host a wide variety of workshops and classes. Some of which have become regular additions to our calendar, such as Can Draw? Will Draw!, Drawing for All and the innovative practical sewing classes.
We are coming to the end of our first year now and have had masses of support from the community locally and online. We would like to thank you all for helping us to grow. Please do continue to support our idea and our space.”
